Diisocyanate‐based chain extension via Mg(<scp>II</scp>) catalyzed amide formation to high‐molecular‐weight poly(lactic acid)

چکیده
Abstract A simple chain‐extension reaction using diisocyanate as a chain extender was adopted to increase the molecular weight of low‐molecular‐weight (LMW) poly(lactic acid) (PLA) synthesized via direct polycondensation and recover commercial PLA after service life. The slow between carboxylic acid terminus successfully accelerated Mg(II) catalyst, affording linear chain‐extended (cePLA) connected through amide bonds. To number bonds, which exhibit higher thermal stability than urethane bonds that are formed in more common reactions isocyanates hydroxy PLA, telechelic LMW‐PLA having groups at both termini prepared. Subsequent this with presence catalyst afforded cePLA high (M w > 180 × 10 3 g/mol) enhanced against degradation, while showing identical mechanical properties biodegradability PLA.

Intramolecular acid-catalyzed amide isomerization in aqueous solution.
[reaction: see text] We report for the first time that stoichiometric and even catalytic quantities of weak acids in aqueous solution can very efficiently catalyze amide isomerization in a carefully designed system in which a proton donor is situated so that intramolecular hydrogen bonding to the amide nitrogen is highly favored. Our results provide the first experimental verification that hydr...
متن کاملDNA-Catalyzed Amide Hydrolysis.
DNA catalysts (deoxyribozymes) for a variety of reactions have been identified by in vitro selection. However, for certain reactions this identification has not been achieved. One important example is DNA-catalyzed amide hydrolysis, for which a previous selection experiment instead led to DNA-catalyzed DNA phosphodiester hydrolysis. Subsequent efforts in which the selection strategy deliberatel...
متن کاملPolylactic acid (PLA)
This website provides an excellent overview of PLA as a polymer, its properties, and manufacture. This web article describes the production of lactic acid from biomass by microbial fermentation coupled to a poly-merization process to make PLA. The article is a bit dated and its industrial projections are now seen to be a bit over-optimistic. NatureWorks is the company that started large-scale p...
متن کاملExtension of Linear Isotherm Regularity to Long Chain Alkanes
In this work, we consider each normal alkane as a hypothetical mixtureof methyland methylene groups, in which the interaction potential of each pair is assumed to be the average effective pair potential. Then, the LIR equation of state (EOS) is extended for such a hypothetical mixture. Also, three basic compounds, namely, propane, n-butane and cyclohexane, are used to obtain the contributio...
متن کاملLipase-catalyzed synthesis of fatty acid amide (erucamide) using fatty acid and urea.
Ammonolysis of fatty acids to the corresponding fatty acid amides is efficiently catalysed by Candida antartica lipase (Novozym 435). In the present paper lipase-catalysed synthesis of erucamide by ammonolysis of erucic acid and urea in organic solvent medium was studied and optimal conditions for fatty amides synthesis were established. In this process erucic acid gave 88.74 % pure erucamide a...
